The Bismarck Garden Club started at the World War Memorial Building on May 19th, 1954 with 66 members: 16 gentlemen and 50 ladies. The dues were $1.00 per person. Meetings were held at the Provident Life Building. The Mandan Garden & Flower Club formed in 1959. The two clubs merged in the late nineteen sixties.

Regular meetings of the Bismarck-Mandan Garden Club are held monthly in February, March, April, May, September, and October. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library in the downstairs meeting room.

Programs with speakers are featured at the February, March, April, September, and October meetings on various topics that appeal to gardeners.

A plant sale and auction are held in May. The location and other details are announced prior to the event. Club members grow the plants from seeds and donate from their own gardens to provide an abundance of wonderful plants. The auction features unique plants, gardening supplies, potted arrangements, and other fun garden-related items.
